Anastasia Savinova born near the Ural Mountains in USSR in 1988, currently lives and works in the Swedish North. Her multidisciplinary practice spans drawing, sculpture, photography, collage, text, video, found object, installation and performance. With an architectural background, Savinova has affection for constructing and building. A mountain walker and an aspiring wild water swimmer, she is deeply moved and inspired by the elements and the wilderness. Working with both man-made and natural environment, she embraces a phenomenological approach in exploring it. In recent years, her focus has shifted toward ecologies, explorations of the connection and boundaries between human and the environment. Savinova investigates how everything is intertwined in co-living and in exchange of energy and physical matter with proximate and distant other; and how we are always emerging as a part of something greater. Her work has been shown and performed in Sweden and internationally, including at Bildmuseet, Kvinnohistoriskt Museum, Norrbottens Museum, Ajtte Museum, Sundsvalls Museum, MUViM in Valencia, Michele Mariaud Gallery in New York, and König Gallery in London.
