Linnéa Therese Dimitriou lives and works in Härnösand, Northern Sweden.
Dimitriou has a preoccupation with the tension between surface and perceptual space in painting. Her paintings spread across glass, mirror and 3-dimensional objects and she describes the flat surface as a metaphor for the boundaries of the self, the solitude of being a singular consciousness. She repurposes pictorial and art historical archetypes to create multilayered scenarios that often project a sense of humour. The female figure is a reoccurring starting point- it’s image, experience and its' associated attributes of femininity. On it she projects and questions acts of representation and perception, and the power-relations these acts give rise to.
